Abortion is coming<\/span> to the Democratic National Convention this week\u2026and conservatives are not okay.<\/p>\n

Access to reproductive health care\u2014which both Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz<\/a> (D-Minn.), have strongly supported<\/a>\u2014is sure to be front and center in some of the convention\u2019s biggest speeches. Especially given its importance for voters<\/a> and the fact that former President Donald Trump is responsible for appointing three of the five Supreme Court justices<\/a> who overturned Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/a> two years ago, unleashing an avalanche of restrictions in over a dozen states<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But this week, the issue will not just be rhetorical, but literal as well. Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, which is based in neighboring Missouri, where abortion is banned, announced<\/a> in a post on X earlier this week that it will be providing free medication abortions and vasectomies from a \u201cmobile health clinic\u201d in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago on Monday and Tuesday. That\u2019s just a couple of miles northeast of the United Center, where many of the main DNC events will take place. By Saturday, Planned Parenthood announced<\/a> that all the appointments had been filled\u2014and, as you may expect, the right promptly began freaking out.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought this was fake but it\u2019s not,\u201d Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) posted<\/a> on X. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to even comprehend and it\u2019s truly heartbreaking.\u201d Kristan Hawkins, head of the anti-abortion group Students for Life of America, argued<\/a> that this action demonstrates the Democrats are \u201cthe party of death.\u201d The right-wing Libs of TikTok account called<\/a> it \u201cdemonic.\u201d And a writer for the right-wing Daily Caller described<\/a> the health clinic as \u201cKamala\u2019s abortion bus\u201d\u2014though it was not requested by the Harris campaign, a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood Great Rivers said. The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to questions.<\/p>\n
