The Harris campaign delivered the perfect response to Trump\u2019s press conference, where the more he talked, the more he sank.<\/p>\n

Trump called it a news conference, but the event he held was an act of political implosion.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The Harris campaign released the following statement after Trump\u2019s performance:<\/p>\n

Donald Trump<\/a> took a break from taking a break to put on some pants and host a p\u0336r\u0336e\u0336s\u0336s\u0336 \u0336c\u0336o\u0336n\u0336f\u0336e\u0336r\u0336e\u0336n\u0336c\u0336e\u0336 public meltdown.<\/em><\/p>\n

We have a lot to say about it. Here are some initial thoughts \u2013 with more to come.<\/em><\/p>\n

He hasn\u2019t campaigned all week. He isn\u2019t going to a single swing state this week. But he sure is mad Kamala Harris<\/a> and Tim Walz are getting big crowds across the battlegrounds.<\/em><\/p>\n

The facts were hard to track and harder to find in Donald Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago meltdown this afternoon.<\/em><\/p>\n

He lied. He attacked the media. He made excuses for why he\u2019s off the campaign trail.<\/em><\/p>\n

We\u2019re here to help because his staff clearly isn\u2019t.<\/em><\/p>\n

But first, an important reminder on the question Donald didn\u2019t answer: how he will vote on the Florida abortion referendum. (<\/strong>He has been ducking this question since April<\/strong><\/a>.)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

We worked to pin down reality so Donald Trump, bless his heart, doesn\u2019t have to. Here are the facts:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

We had\u00a012,000 and 15,000 people<\/a>\u00a0in Wisconsin and Michigan yesterday, respectively (Not 2,000.)<\/em><\/p>\n

The ABC debate is\u00a0September 10th<\/a>. Not the 25th.<\/em><\/p>\n

People have spoken to bigger crowds than Donald Trump. (Obama, Clinton, literally anyone at Lollapalooza, Coachella, the World Cup\u2026)<\/em><\/p>\n

January 6th was decidedly\u00a0nothing<\/a>\u00a0like MLK\u2019s \u201cI Have a Dream\u201d speech. And Trump did not\u00a0get a bigger crowd<\/a>\u00a0than Martin Luther King Jr. on that historic day.<\/em><\/p>\n

There was famously not a \u201cpeaceful transfer<\/a>\u201d of power after the 2020 election, which Donald Trump fought to overturn. (Famously.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Five police officers<\/a>\u00a0died because of January 6th.<\/em><\/p>\n

Donald Trump said he was off the trail this week because of the\u00a0Democratic convention<\/a>. (That convention is not happening this week.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Trump said they have commercials at a level no one else does. (He is being drastically outspent on the airwaves.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Governor Josh Shapiro is actually a\u00a0great<\/a>\u00a0guy.<\/em><\/p>\n

Project 2025 author Tom Homan<\/a>, the \u201cfather\u201d of Trump\u2019s cruel child separation policy, is not a person to praise.<\/em><\/p>\n

Jewish people should not \u201chave their head examined\u201d for not supporting him. (That\u2019s actually antisemitic.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Trump said he was not complaining. He in fact very much was.<\/em><\/p>\n

Trump\u00a0does not know<\/a>\u00a0the difference<\/a>\u00a0between asylum seekers and an insane asylum.<\/em><\/p>\n

Donald Trump does not \u201ccherish\u201d\u00a0the Constitution<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Abortion is not \u201cless of an issue\u201d for\u00a0voters<\/a>. It is not \u201csubdued.\u201d It is not a \u201csmall issue\u201d for voters, despite how much Donald Trump wants it to be.<\/em><\/p>\n

Donald Trump\u00a0did not<\/a>\u00a0answer the abortion question \u201cvery well in the debate.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Everybody did not want\u00a0Roe v. Wade\u00a0overturned. The American people\u00a0do not support<\/a>\u00a0states banning abortion.<\/em><\/p>\n

After-birth abortion\u00a0does not exist<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Minnesota<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Virginia<\/a>\u00a0are not the same. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Donald Trump doesn\u2019t know what progressive means.<\/em><\/p>\n

Kamala Harris does not want to\u00a0take away<\/a>\u00a0everyone\u2019s guns. Tim Walz is a\u00a0gun owner<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Vice President Harris does not support an\u00a0arms embargo<\/a>\u00a0on Israel.<\/em><\/p>\n

Donald Trump could not remember Tim Walz\u2019s name.<\/em><\/p>\n

Donald Trump\u2019s tax cuts are not the\u00a0biggest<\/a>\u00a0in history.<\/em><\/p>\n

We don\u2019t know what \u201cthe transgender became such a big thing\u201d is supposed to mean.<\/em><\/p>\n

Donald Trump will cut Social Security \u2013 just like he proposed\u00a0every year<\/a>\u00a0he was in office.<\/em><\/p>\n

Government was not weaponized against Trump and Steve Bannon.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mail ballots are\u00a0secure<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

We agree \u2013 Elon IS a different kind of guy.<\/em><\/p>\n

There are no polls that say Donald Trump is going to win in a\u00a0landslide<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

The MAGA base is not 75% of the country.<\/em><\/p>\n

Sometimes, campaigns can\u2019t help themselves, and they lack the discipline to step back and let their opponent self-destruct.<\/p>\n

This wasn\u2019t a problem for the Harris-Walz campaign. They aren\u2019t getting into the insult game or the tit-for-tat with Trump that he likes so much.<\/p>\n

Donald Trump has been politically drowning since President Biden<\/a> stepped aside and Vice President Harris entered the race. The moment that the Democratic coalition unified around Harris, the nation\u2019s political gravity shifted, and Trump has been losing ground ever since.<\/p>\n

The news conference was an attempt by a desperate candidate to get the momentum back. Kamala Harris could have made the mistake of jumping into the fray with Trump and coming down to his level.<\/p>\n

She didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Donald Trump is drowning, and Harris will not rescue him.<\/p>\n
