Former President Trump\u2019s campaign on Tuesday criticized Vice President Harris for choosing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) as her running mate, calling him a \u201cWest Coast wannabe.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s no surprise that San Francisco Liberal Kamala Harris wants West Coast wannabe Tim Walz as her running-mate \u2014 Walz has spent his governorship trying to reshape Minnesota in the image of the Golden State,\u201d Trump campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday morning, Harris chose Walz<\/a> to be her running mate. Walz, who previously served in the House, emerged as a dark horse contender<\/a> and gained popularity after he began repeatedly calling Republicans \u201cweird,\u201d a line that Harris’s campaign has eagerly adopted.<\/p>\n

The pick drew praise from both progressive and more moderate Democrats.<\/p>\n

The Trump campaign criticized Walz\u2019s progressive policy stances and said he \u201cpretends to support Americans in the Heartland.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom proposing his own carbon-free agenda, to suggesting stricter emission standards for gas-powered cars, and embracing policies to allow convicted felons to vote, Walz is obsessed with spreading California\u2019s dangerously liberal agenda,\u201d Leavitt\u2019s statement said.<\/p>\n

In a text to supporters, Trump\u2019s campaign said \u201cTIM WALZ WILL UNLEASE HELL ON EARTH.”<\/p>\n

In an email last week, Trump vowed<\/a> to \u201cunleash hell\u201d at his rally in Atlanta, shortly after Harris made a stop there.<\/p>\n

On a fundraising site<\/a>, Trump reiterated the line and criticism of Walz.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019ll unleash HELL ON EARTH and open our borders to the worst criminals imaginable,\u201d the site said. \u201cHe\u2019ll rubber stamp Kamala\u2019s GREEN NEW SCAM and light TRILLIONS of dollars on fire.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harris and Walz are set to travel<\/a> to several battleground states this week, beginning Tuesday in Philadelphia. They will also make stops in Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada.<\/p>\n

Republicans are likely to criticize Walz on his policy positions on abortion and LGBTQ issues, painting him as a radical liberal, as they have sought to do with Harris.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Walz won\u2019t tell voters the truth, we will: just like Kamala Harris, Tim Walz is a dangerously liberal extremist, and the Harris-Walz California dream is every American\u2019s nightmare,\u201d Leavitt said.<\/p>\n
