Harris campaign raises $310M in July—with no sign of momentum slowing

On Friday, Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign announced it raised an astounding $310 million dollars in July. While that figure includes money raised by President Joe Biden’s campaign before he ended his reelection campaign on July 21, their combined fundraising has obliterated Donald Trump’s, coming in at over twice the $138.7 million raised by the Trump campaign during the same month. The Associated Press reports that the Harris campaign now has $377 million in cash on hand, which the campaign says is “the most for any presidential candidate at this point in the cycle”—and $50 million more than Trump.

The Democratic National Committee’s virtual roll call kicked off on Thursday, with Harris as the only candidate to qualify. The DNC already deemed her the “presumptive nominee” this past Tuesday, and by the end of this upcoming Monday, when the results are announced, that “presumptive” will be gone.

Harris is also expected to announce her running mate by next Tuesday. Selecting a running mate usually generates fresh enthusiasm in a ticket (unless that choice is Sen. JD Vance, Donald Trump’s disastrous pick), but even before Harris makes her announcement, everything seems to be moving her way.

When Harris began having rallies, it quickly became clear that the days when Trump’s supporters could brag about any advantage in either fundraising or enthusiasm were over.

Full stadiums. Lines wrapped around buildings. And boisterous, joyful crowds. Voters are leaving these rallies saying they have been “re-energized,” and Harris has a series of rallies planned after she announces her vice presidential nominee.

On Thursday evening, Harris greeted prisoners freed from Russian prisons thanks to a series of long, complex diplomatic negotiations in which she played a critical role. And she even took time earlier that day to deliver a beautiful eulogy to her dear friend, the late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.

Meanwhile, across the aisle, all Republicans have to celebrate is how their candidate “crap[ped] the bed” in a horrifically racist appearance before the National Association of Black Journalists on Wednesday. Which seems even worse than the week they spent fending off stories of the relationship between their vice presidential nominee and furniture.

This is starting to look less like a honeymoon period and more like the start of a blue wave.

Keep the momentum going by sending $10 to Kamala Harris campaign today!
